I would suggest one of the most popular writing partnerships of the Edwardian and Georgian periods, Charles Norris and Alice Muriel Williamson. They were a husband and wife team {he was British, she American} who specialised in travel comedy romances usually centered around motor car tours. A.M. was the senior partner who did most of the actual plot inspiration and writing; C.N.'s main input was in character development--particularly for male figures in the books.
The books were immensely popular and sold very well indeed. Alice had an interest in the movie industry and some of her books were made into silent films {none survive}. After her husband's death in 1920, Alice continued writing but the books were published under both her and her husband's names.
The novels have an energy and cosmopolitan quality which makes them well worth a try. Probably the best to start with is Set In Silver which has great characters and interesting relationships. The PG download has excellent illustrations which enhance the flavour of the book.
