The problem with an IR sensor is that it lacks the proper software engineering skill to recognize finger movements. I worked at HP briefly and most touch pad finger movement recognition was done in my department and to be honest with you, it's not a very hard implementation, which only involves noise filtration algorithm which isn't hard, yet ONYX can't get it straight, what else do you expect then?
