I was at the used bookstore once with a stack of books. My ex was giving me a hard time about the size of said stack and I pointed out that it could be worse : I could always resell the books, unlike being hooked on cocaine. The bookseller added "Hey! You can kick cocaine!"
That said, I reread series whenever a new book comes out and reread old friends frequently. It's comforting....
