Post Dickens, Charles: The Pickwick Papers (Illustrated). v7. 31 Dec 2014.

Undoubtedly, the adventures of benevolent Mr Pickwick, sensitive Mr Tupman, literary Mr Snodgrass and sportive Mr Winkle will continue to delight readers of all ages for a couple of hundreds of years more from now. Unlike the rest of Dickens's novels, this book is just the extremely enjoyable story of the four above-named gentlemen who decide to create a club of which Mr Pickwick is the main member. We follow them all around London, into the countryside and even inside a debtors' prison. On their way, they meet several memorable characters, including Mr Jingle, Job Trotter, Messrs Dodson and Fogg and even a couple of ladies two of them fall in love with. The novel has no main plot, resulting in a thoroughly enjoyable story that's read in a light, lively way. Moreover, "Pickwick Papers" is a wonderful insight into Victorian society, written in the way only Dickens can write.

Full illustrated with the original black and white illustrations by Seymour and Phiz.

This one was a real pain to do, by the way. It's full of songs, verses, letters, etc, all of which needed extensive re-formatting from the PG original. Took hours and hours to produce.

Enjoy!

EDIT: 24 Dec 07

Created a proper Mobipocket version with large images, working table of contents link, author name in library, etc. etc. Uploaded v3.

EDIT: 21 Mar 07

Recreated the book to sort out problems with paragraph endings. Improved the layout and formatting. Uploaded v4.

EDIT: 11 Dec 08

Thoroughly proofed against several different printed editions. Hundreds of minor corrections made as a result; the book is now in a pretty good state. Uploaded v5.

EDIT: 16 Oct 09

Replaced the cover to be consistent with the rest of the MR Dickens series; made internal changes to the HTML code to improve it (these have no visible impact for the reader). Uploaded v6.

EDIT: 31 Dec 14

Thoroughly proof-read against the "Oxford Illustrated Dickens" edition. Innumerable errors corrected. General improvements to the formatting, such as replacing straight quotes with curly quotes. I would now regard this as a finished product, so please let me know if you find even the smallest error. Uploaded v7.
