To be honest, the Reader doesn't make a very good MP3 player. If you have something like an iPod, I'd suggest carrying on using that to play your music. You can play music on the Reader just like you can read eBooks on an iPod, but neither tool was really designed for the job. Use each one for what it's best for.

Another reason to avoid using the Reader as an MP3 player is that there's no "Stop" facility, just a "Pause". If you don't have headphones plugged in, it's very easy to overlook the fact that the music is playing, and drain the battery flat without realising.
