That must be shipping weight. The specs say that it is .87 lb and my kitchen scale agrees. The Coby and Fire are almost identical in size and weight.

I don't have any problem going from resistive to capacitive screen. Use your fingernail on the resistive and the soft pad of your finger for the capacitive screen.
