Here is a short primer for a new digital novel reader. First topic is formats, each book is published in a specific format that your reader needs to be able to read. The most prominent formats are PDF and epub and you will not be able to read the books that are in one of those formats unless your reader supports them, most do.
Second topic is DRM, both of these formats can have something called Digital Rights Management or DRM for short that limits what you can do wit the book such as copying it and/or reading it multiple times. DRM is code that is embedded in the book. DRM is something that can be easily removed from the books that you buy from a digital book store with the right software.
Third topic encryption, not the same as DRM as its a method to scramble the contents of the book so that you can not read the book you bought. Most book stores use encryption to force you to buy their book reader in order to read their books. Some do not however such as Smashwords.
Forth topic, library management. Download and install Calibre for this matter its quite good at the job.
Enteroge is out of business thus you will get no tech support for your reader so it might be worth your while to evaluate a new reader. The three most highly recommended readers here are: Kindle, Sony and Nook. I would recommend that you get very picky and post under what should I buy and tell us what your ideal reader is then sit back and let forum member shoot it out. Do you want touch screen (Sony, Kobo, Nook)? Do you want color (Nook)? Do you want simplicity (Kobo)? Foreign Language books (BeBook)? Do you mostly read bestsellers (all readers) or do you read your own style of books (Kindle - let's face it amazon has everything)? Do you want something that supports absolutely every format available (Pocketbook lite)? Want to read library books (Kindle can't do that.)
