To the first question, I believe not; to the second- did you install ADE software on your mac?
(11:28 PM thought: can you create another account on the same mac and try to run the installation there? Sometimes userprefs files go mixed up. Also,
before you try that: go to System Preferences, then International, then format. Is it set to US format? On 10.5 and beyond it was the root of the problem; probably because the software has to be doctored into believing it's operating from the US :P)
