The term 'iLiad support' is probably used in a different way than you think.
I interpret it as 'support from the basic operating system': showing file names in Cyrillic, allowing user interface (device manager) to be in Cyrillic, etc.

For PDF files, no support is necessary from the operating system, as long as the file has the proper fonts embedded, in a format supported by xpdf. But it is an xpdf implementation question entirely.

In general, it will work. I don't think xpdf supports Type 3 fonts, though, so if you plan to use those, it probably won't work.
