Just happened to me (for the first time, I might add). I have been sideloading books for forever - I think this happened because I tried to sideload a book I opened from the Kobo store using ADE. Factory reset worked, but I just wasted an hour trying a bunch of stuff before I gave up and did the reset....what a pain!
