Not a problem for me since I've been using enhanced anyway. I've got a 128 GB iTouch at the moment, so I don't think that space is going to be an issue in the near future.
So far the good news is that my car entertainment system handles the mp3's just fine. I can select from a playlist, fast forward, etc. The bad news is that sometimes it can lose it's place. I think that I'm ok as long as I remember to pause the player before shutting down the car. It's not perfect, but it's better than any of the alternatives, so far.
I suspect that most of my issues have to do with the Honda entertainment system rather than Apple.
