K3Chess is a graphical chess interface for Kindle. Below you will find short installation instructions for various Kindle models. This program was compiled to work on Kindle 3, 4 (gray & black), and DXG, but it was not extensively tested on all of the devices
and all firmware versions (including future versions), so you may find yourself to be the first person to try it on a particular device
or particular firmware version. Should you have any questions, please leave a message in this thread or post a bug report on the
project page.
Installing K3Chess on Kindle 3/DXG with launchpad:
1) Download
this archive if you have
qtKindle library installed in the root folder of your Kindle user disk, or
this archive if you don't have
qtKindle library on your Kindle.
2) Unpack the downloaded archive into the root folder of your Kindle user disk.
3) Restart your Kindle.
4) Use Shift K C launchpad combination to start K3Chess.
Installing K3Chess on Kindle 3/DXG (without launchpad) and Kindle 4:
1) Download
this archive if you have
qtKindle library installed in the root folder of your Kindle user disk,
this archive if you don't have
qtKindle library on your Kindle.
2) Unpack the downloaded archive into the root folder of your Kindle user disk.
3) Download
this archive, open it and find the installer.bin file with the correct suffix for your device: Kindle Keyboard Wi-Fi:
k3w; Kindle 3G:
k3g; Kindle 3G International:
k3gb; Kindle 4:
k4x.
4) Extract this file into the root folder of your Kindle user disk.
5) On your Kindle, select
Menu > Settings, then
Menu > Update Your Kindle. Press OK to start the update. After the update, your device will reboot.
6) To start the K3Chess application, choose the "Chess" kindlet on your bookshelf.
7) To uninstall the "Chess" kindlet, run the appropriate uninstall.bin file from the same archive.
