Problem with recognitiom of russian file and folder names

I'm using calibre 0.7.35. Converting a russian book from html to pdf calibre refuses to save it to disk with the following message:

WARNING: Could not save some books: Could not save some books, Click the show details button to see which ones.

Вьюга теней
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "site-packages\calibre\library\save_to_disk.py", line 375, in save_serialized_to_disk
File "site-packages\calibre\library\save_to_disk.py", line 251, in do_save_book_to_disk
File "os.py", line 157, in makedirs
WindowsError: [Error 123] The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect: 'D:\\books\\??????? ?????'

The folder name is Алексей Пехов. If i go to the containing folder the file name (Пехов Алексей - Вьюга теней) is transliterated into V'iugha tieniei - Piekhov Alieksiei. So what ihad to do is to copy - paste the name & cut - paste the file to disk. Is there a way to save russian files directly?
