Dig into the reading about CRP and you will find that the author warned that it wasn't well tested with the devices that have working OTG-USB ports. (That includes the model of Kindle you have.)

You must always have the cable disconnected when enabling and disabling the networking.
If you don't then you should be getting an on-screen warning.
