Slim Amazon Kindle 'Shasta' to be first with WiFi?:
Quote:
The screencap above displaying the results of an internal Amazon device query shows entries for "Shasta" and "Shasta WiFi." That would seem to indicate that Amazon's next reader will launch in two flavors: WiFi + 3G and 3G-only (our source isn't sure). There's even an outside chance that one could be a WiFi-only device.

Shasta is a volcano in the Cascades.
Engadget is assuming this is the same August device as previously reported (
Bloomberg: new Kindle in August).
As usual, this raises more questions than answers. My first question is why would Amazon sell two Kindles? When its "Kindle is best selling on Amazon" claim revolves around the Kindle coming with no options (any color you want so long as it is white). So I would not be surprised if there is only one Stasta, with both WiFi and 3G (or alternatively, that Amazon offers multiple colors - completely breaking with the no base options approach). Otherwise pick any two out of WiFi, 3G, 3G+WiFi.
