Me for one. Great for listening to in the car on the way to and from work. Definitely
not a "thing of the past" - the fact that iPods, etc, are now "mass market" devices has seen an explosion in the audiobook market in recent years.
There's a massive difference between a good audiobook and TTS. A good audiobook is a "performance" in every sense of the word.
