Thought that this would be of interest to anyone else suffering from the problem of "Questionable Question Marks"
Discovered that I could "cure" the problem by converting the EPub format file into EPub Format using Calibre.
Don't know why but it did the job . . no more ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
