If margins are part of images you will need to recreate entire book from scratch.

That what you calling "generic comic view" is created by image manipulations and using real panel view code to emulate virtual one minus margins. It is not a magic switch on header level.

I personally just extract all images from comic book that use too big margins and reconvert it to AZW3 once more after proper processing.
