In addition to those, my choices would be:
Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke.
Anything (except Ysabel, ugh) by Guy Gavriel Kay.
The Mistborn Trilogy, followed by Alloy of Law by Brandon Sanderson.
Soul Catcher by Frank Herbert. I believe this was his only novel that wasn't sci fi.
