You have to pre-cook the meat. The machine cooks the egg, and warms the muffin, cheese and meat.

The machine gets good reviews on Amazon, but the unit which tries to make two sandwiches at once does not.
As with a non-toasted S/W you can use sliced ham or other deli cooked meats and try things like sliced eggplant (aubergine) as a filling or instead of the bread.
