Wells, Carolyn: A Point of Testimony (1911) v1, 3 Jul 2019

I haven't posted a single short story before, but I found this one on Internet Archive.

Carolyn Wells spoofs the genre through her consulting detective Bayliss and his imaginary Watson.

Published in Adventure Magazine, October 1911. I have included the magazine cover as the artist, M Leone Bracker, died in 1937 and the cover art is out of copyright.

(Incidentally, the cover image illustrates a novelette by Bertram Atkey, (d. 1952), creator of Smiler Bunn, and author of several fantasy and sf stories.)
