Hmm, if I were in your shoes, I'd start over from scratch: un-install the Sony Reader Library Software, uninstall Adobe Digital Editions, reset the Reader. Then re-install, re-authorize, and rebuild your collection of books in the library. Some will call this the 'nuclear option' but if you don't have many books on the Reader, it's not that time consuming.

one tip: Don't run both ADE and the Reader Library at the same time with the Reader connected. (Not sure if you did, but I do know that might cause problems).
