Children, you should realize that research materials/supplies are often expensive but are bought by grants. Scientists already make virtually no money publishing research, and in a very small field, a book such as this would sell very few copies. Look at related purchases and you can see similarly priced books. It is likely that large quantities of hardbound copies were purchased for labs/libraries.

Just because some idiots write fake reviews you get all excited over nothing.
I doubt that profits from all of these 3000$-6000$ research tomes would constitute that gained by a single twilight novel, sad where our priorities lie.
