What I'm gathering from my reading here is that there's rtf, and then there's rtf. Seems like the Connect software doesn't like some files, possibly with peculiar or complex formatting (just speculation about the cause).

Try just typing a few lines in Word or something, save it as an RTF and see if it will import. If not, there's something very not good going on...
