Well, if the light on the diskette-drive is on all the time, that is usually an indication that the interfacecable is inserted the wrong way "up", normally a disk-drive usually just lights up when it's being initialized by the bios and/or OS. Then the light goes out until you actually plunk a disk in and start accessing it
