If you pave the streets, add a gas station and a convenience store, and put 'most' of the people into modern clothing, this looks and feels like any rural seaside village here today. Add an outer layer of modern wall to the houses, and cars on the street, and it could be today.

This is the complete 9-hour mini-series, and is a fantastic, accurate cultural exploration of Japan in the 16th Century... and not much has changed since...
Well worth watching in its entirety.
