Tut tut syclone, if your 5v max output voltage USB sockets are giving 12v then there is something seriously wrong with your device

In fact there has been debate about this in the past on this forum.

I should add that the USB specification rates the voltage available from a USB socket as 4.9v to 5.1v, anything out of that range is out of spec.
