First off, thank you all so very much for this thread. I don't use Kindle books all that often, and was SO VERY frustrated when my downloaded book wouldn't convert this morning!
Method 1 worked for me. I didn't try 2, and I don't have an e-ink kindle, so that isn't an option for me. A note on the "download for usb transfer" option: Amazon wanted to know what device I was downloading it for, and informed me that none of my registered devices qualified for that download. I was a bit peeved.....
I really hope someone comes up with a fix for the new format, cause yah, I can TOTALLY see Amazon eventually refusing to work with older Kindle for PC versions!
