Glad to be here
I started with ebooks in Japan on an Apple Newton, then a Palm Pilot, and last year I loaded up a Sony Reader with 800 books from Gutenberg and Archive.org and moved back to Japan, a life plus 50 country, where English paper books are prohibitively expensive.
I've published an ESL text and Ann Arbor has my dissertation, for which I received a royalty check for $40. I published lots of academic stuff that I don't imagine anyone would want to read, but I did put my Statistics lecture notes on line for students, and anyone else who wants them.
I feel that authors should be able to earn their living from their writing but that current copyright law in the US anyway is more about t-shirts than books.
Although retired, I'm interested in free etextbooks and curriculum design using them. Since I got an internet connection, I'm really interested in sources for post-1923 works, fiction, history, math, philosophy, and whatnot.
Looking forward to meeting people here and learning from them.
