Public Domain varies depending on your country. You can do anything with a public domain work, it doesn't matter how long ago the copyright expired. As you're in the US, public domain works are anything published in 1922 and earlier. Some other items published between 1923 and 1963 inclusive may be in the public domain, but finding is tricky. No more books enter the public domain in the US until 1st January 2019 when all books published in 1923 become public domain. |
