Lots of things work that way. One of the most common symbols for a "Options" in a computer program is a cog - WTH? For saving they often do a bit better - a diskette! And look at the image used on the Calibre website - paper books! Even our e-readers offer to let you "swipe" to turn the "page".

Besides, what is the best symbol or image for a word processor? Many word processor programs use a symbol for a piece of paper as a their icon and/or logo. So is the symbol for word processor a photo of a photo of a piece of paper?
