Ah, I see what you're saying, now.
But really... the previous conversions were only "inferior" because, well...
MOBI. They're only "better" now because you're seeing the new improved KF8 format version of the file. But the old "inferior" MOBI is still a part of what Previewer/Kindlegen produces. In fact, it's what gets delivered to devices that don't support KF8.
