I would keep trying to update the PB firmware (here is the right link for it:
http://www.pocketbook-int.com/downlo...01_ru_15_3.zip):
- get it on the SD card, insert the card into reader while it is switched off,
- connect the reader with the USB cable to your computer to provide it with power,
- hold the "+" button and turn the reader on (keeping the "+" pressed until the "firmware update" message appears).
In case of repeating failures, I'd try other SD cards.
