This is some more useful information; thanks to you both! I will try these suggestions and report back if I discover anything interesting.
By the way, are the Sony Readers pretty good about NOT LOSING ANNOTATIONS unless I do something dumb like open Calibre and Reader Library at the same time? I'm just hoping that the feature is pretty reliable and that I won't have to be restoring annotations on a regular basis.
