You are both of course, completely correct.
I didn't mean Bookeen would have to create a completely new firmware from scratch, just that they would likely have to build and maintain separate firmware packages for the Orizon and Opus/Gen3 because of the significant differences in hardware (bluetooth, wifi, touch screen etc). I may well be wrong though - perhaps the additional components can be easily be included or omitted as part of the build process.
Either way if (as K-Thom said) Bookeen's focus is on a new device I expect the Opus and Gen 3 wont see much attention until after it releases.
