On the Library management point - as you said, you can do the Collections management. The other thing I have done is set up a metadata plugboard so that the I populate Title field in Tolino with:
{title} {series_index:0>2s|[|] }{series:|| }
That way I can see my series numbers.
I reckon you are pretty well spot on with your assessment of the Tolino. I love the flush screen and screen quality. It has been rock solid in reliability terms, but the reading software is fairly basic.
