Setting Reader Library.exe as a DEP exception and allowing it through your firewall has helped others running Vista, I'm not sure if it will help you running Windows 7.

Sony changed the name of the executable from this:

C:\Program Files\Sony\Reader\Data\bin\eBook Library.exe

to this:

C:\Program Files\Sony\Reader\Data\bin\Reader Library.exe
