I'm not saying it's a bug, and Amazon is clearly within its rights to update the way it manages metadata requests. But Calibre has always, as long as I've been using it, included the ability download metadata. I'm just offering my feedback (as a very grateful user) that I really like that feature and I'm sad that it is no longer able to perform its function, in the hope that somehow it can be restored. I understand and agree with Kovid's concern that this appears to be an escalating arms war with Amazon, and I don't know what the answer might be. There have been a couple of suggestions that have been rejected: 1) pass to the CAPTCHA request to the user and allow them to respond, or 2) allow users to specify or override the UA setting. Maybe it's time to reconsider one or both of them?
