Absolutely not, but there were a LOT of rumors about iPhone 5, everyone was talking about iPhone 5 (including the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, I don't mean blogs), and I think it was in Apple's best interest to dispell those rumors. I'm certain that Apple has managed expectations and seeded rumors of their own in the past.
