Edith Nesbit Bland, English author and poet, published approximately 40 books for children under the name of E. Nesbit. Her innovative body of work combined realistic, contemporary children in real-world settings with magical objects and adventures; and influenced many subsequent fantasy writers.

Here is an entertaining collection of Nesbit stories about dragons — those fascinating creatures of myth and legend. The people of these stories – whether they are timid or adventurous, clever or inept, well-meaning or evil, or simply curious – all find themselves caught up in unexpected adventures when they actually meet Real Live Dragons!

Contents:
Spoiler:
(The first eight stories comprise The Book of Dragons, 1900)
1- The Book of Beasts
2- Uncle James
3- The Deliverers of Their Country
4- The Ice Dragon
5- The Isle of the Nine Whirlpools
6- The Dragon Tamers
7- The Fiery Dragon
8- Kind Little Edmund
9- Billy the King -- (from Oswald Bastable and Others, 1905)
10- Justnowland -- (from The Magic World, 1912)
11- The Last of the Dragons -- (from The Five of Us—And Madeline, 1925)

----------
Text and images obtained from several sources (see editing notes in the book). Punctuation has been formatted; missing italics and some text fragments recovered. A glossary has been added, annotating some terms no longer in general use, or in use primarily in the UK. Chapter heads are cross-linked to dynamic Table of Contents; image captions cross-linked to List of Illustrations. Embedded fonts for titling, etc. (hope you like my custom font for dragon decorations).

Offered in a Drop-caps version, and an Up-caps version if your reader is shy about wrapping text. Images are low-resolution (sources weren't wonderful). And the cover is very... green.

Have fun chasing dragons!
.
What a beautiful cover! Thank you!
