Apologies for the necro and if this has been answered in the last 184 pages somewhere, BUT
I got a Kindle Paperwhite recently for dirt cheap, figured I'd hack it. Downgraded to 5.3.3, got the jailbreak package listed above, did the "Update", it printed "*** Jailbreak ***" to the screen.
Now what? I've tried installing the usbnet hack (Update_usbnet_0.22.N_install_touch_pw.bin), copied it to the root (alongside the rp, mkk, documents, and system folders), sync and eject, but when I try to "Update" this time, the button is greyed out and the bin file has been deleted. Tried with the "Dummy" package as well.
I rebooted, no change; reinstalled the jailbreak, got the "*** Jailbreak ***" again, still nothing. I've tried the "Update_jailbreak_bridge_1.16.N_install.bin" and "Update_jailbreak_hotfix_1.16.N_install.bin" for good measure: "Update your kindle" remains greyed out.
This is definitely a Paperwhite (serial B01C), it's still running firmware 5.3.3. Did I miss a step?
Thanks for the help
