0.6.x Images in Mobi

My apologies if this has been covered somewhere, I've been looking but haven't found it.

I have a couple of OS X machines that I use Calibre on, a late-model Intel Mini and a Macbook Pro ( first hardware version ), and I've been keeping up with the new versions. I really like the improved UI features! I am using a Kindle 2.

I discovered this weekend that with the .6 series of Calibre I'd lost the ability to include images in my latest .mobi project. Thinking I just had a syntax problem or had reached a limit with my images, I tried to recreate a .mobi from a zip file that worked in 0.5.14, and it didn't work either. In the internal viewer there are broken image icons where the images should be, and they're missing when viewed on my reader.

I reinstalled 0.5.14 and was able to create .mobi files of both the old zip that worked before and with the latest project.

I use ascii text files and png images, and use <img src="foo.png"> syntax for images, as illustrated in the text-demo files I downloaded from the Wiki. I experimented with single quotes, Markdown image syntax, and jpg files instead of png, none of which worked. The same syntax and source files that used to work in 0.5.14 just won't work for .6.x.

My source files are in Markdown syntax, using single and double-asterisks, right angle brace for indent, pound signs, etc., with the exception of the img tags.

I've temporarily reverted to 0.5.14 to regain the ability to include images in my .mobi files, but I'm wondering, has anyone else experienced the same problem I have? I've been looking around in the changelogs and posts here trying to find a reason, maybe a syntax change or something, but haven't found anything.

Thanks for reading, I'm looking forward to any clues I can get!
