Peter Neale was not intended by nature to be a father: he is too wrapped up in his own small pleasures and his job at the newspaper. But shortly after the birth of their son, Peter’s wife walks out on him and the baby to return to her theatrical career. The shambling, sloppy, rather prudish sportswriter must take up where she left off and learn what it takes to raise an infant and make him a successful young man.
