Now that you have an idea of what they're telling you, know this, the files/books in the backup you are referring to will not have the metadata updated inside the file. Calibre updates metadata (Author, titles etc) when you use calibre to export the book from the database. This is done via the Send to Device, Save to disk, or Connect to folder option.
