I ended picking one up for the wife. She's addicted to her Kindle Fire but liked the idea of an E-ink reader.

It's really came down to price point. At $50 even she (a very frugal woman, not a shopper, the Fire was a gift) thought why not. Of course access to my Calibre library was a large part of the motivation. If I want a book I'll buy it, where she'll only buy "must" reads.

So I said I wouldn't buy one as a back-up but I can't pretend that in a way I did.
