Both the
source and the
translation by Sir Richard Francis Burton (1821 – 1890) of this very short, adult-themed story from the Arabian Nights (AKA 1001 Nights, Alf Laylah wa Laylah) are long out of copyright.
This is a bilingual Arabic-English ebook with interlinked Arabic and English sentences. I.e. if you cannot figure out a particular Arabic sentence, you can click the on the hyperlink at the beginning of the sentence to jump to the corresponding English translation.
This ebook is primarily intended for intermediate to advanced Arabic students who are interested in classical Arabic.
Of course you can also use it to test whether your reader can handle Arabic ePubs. :-)
Unfortunately, as of April 2012, only some Webkit based readers support Arabic and other RTL languages. (AFAIK, most ADE-based readers don't support RTL text at all.)
I successfully tested this ebook with the Firefox EPUBREADER plug-in and fbKindle.
BTW, you can download Burton's complete ebook from
eBooks@Adelaide. (Click on the tiny ePub icon on the right side.)
