How about Holidays on Ice by the American humourist and raconteur, David Sedaris. It's described as "an anthology of humorous Christmas tales and essays". For example, story one is called SantaLand Diaries and is about his experiences working as a Christmas elf in Macy's SantaLand.

I'm British and don't always "get" American humour but I find David Sedaris very funny. He appears on BBC Radio quite often.
