I had a similar weird thing happen. My parents bought me a Kindle for Christmas, and when it arrived, my mother took it out and charged it. She never registered it or entered any info, yet when I got it it had her name and account linked to it. Maybe Amazon does this when you buy it through your Amazon account? It was a simple matter to de-register and re-register, but it was still odd.
