What determines how pleasing a typeface looks. So many people dislike Comic Sans, yet I find it a very pleasing-to-the-eye typeface when used properly. It's not appropriate for every situation, and it has often been over used, but I find it a very easy to read typeface.

Other typefaces have become accepted, such as: Helvetica, Georgia, Verdana, Courier, and Times New Roman. Yet others, like Papyrus, Curlz, and Jokerman seem to be out of place. Yet, why is that? Why does the typeface have such an affect on the text rendered. It seems like type something in Jokerman would make something less serious regardless of the content of the text.
