I just had to delete all the social tags in calibre off a pretty huge library.
Easiest way I found was to go to the edit metadata in bulk page, go to Add metadata, select all, and hit ok.
That should bring you back to the bulk screen, and in the add tag area you should see all the tags available. Once you see that, you can cut and paste it into the remove tags line, and remove em all.
It takes a while to do, but it's a lot easier than going book by book.
